the First Smart Station in Thailand and ASEAN,

Serviced With the 5G Technology for All People

Bangkok, 21^st October 2022 – The National 5G Committee, the Committee of ONDE (Office of National Digital Economy and Society Commission), the Committee of the Digital Economy and Society Development Fund,and the State Railway of Thailand, altogether celebrated the grand opening of the first and only 5G Smart Station in Thailand and ASEAN at Krung ThepAphiwat Central Terminal Station.This pilot project,driven by the National 5G Committee, and financially supportedby the Digital Economy and Society Development Fund,  utilizes 5G technologies for the best benefits of Thai people. General PrawitWongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister, Executive Chairman of the Committee of the Digital Economyand Society Development Fund, acted as the chairperson of this project’s grand opening.

General PrawitWongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister, revealed that 5G Smart Station at Krung ThepAphiwat Central Terminal Stationis the real pride of Thai people as it is not only the National Transport Hub, but it is the first 5G Smart Station in ASEAN that is highly advanced and accessible by all groups of people. The publicservices providedin the station result from a great cooperation with various partners to improve the quality and the safety of the services within the station by 5G technology. Most importantly, everyone in this area can really use 5G technology easily, conveniently, extensively, and equally.

Mr. SaksayamChidchob, Minister of Transport, stated that Ministry of Transport focuses on developing Krung ThepAphiwat Central Terminal Stationto be theTransport Hub as the world’s leading train station, and the center of transportation to all destinations, covering all types of services of “tracking system” connecting all modes of travels, ground, water, and air. In addition, we focus on providing excellent services to people to travel to their destinations conveniently, quickly, and safely. To do that, 5G technology utilized in our public services are now in accordance with the government policy in enhancing 5G technology for the benefits of the people and the nation. Together with the ONDE in development of 5G Smart Station, we provide welcoming robots, smart trolleys, and AI security system. Thanks to the National 5G Committee, the Committee of ONDE, and the Committee of the Digital Economy and Society Development Fundfor the great support for the project funding.

Mr. PutchapongNodthaisong, the Secretary of the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission, stated that the Digital Economy and Society Development Fundhas its mission to develop digital economy and society in accordance with the national policy and planning of digital economy and society development to support the use of 5G technology at 5G Smart Station at Krung ThepAphiwat Central Terminal Station. In addition, Krung ThepApiwat Central Terminal Station is planning to have high passenger traffic. Thanks to the State Railway of Thailand, the owner of the area that has provided great support from the beginningof designing the services to the final implementation. This 5G Smart Station will be the significant learning resources for all sectors who want to experience and apply with other technologies on 5G network that best fits their operations or repeating future operations.

Mr. ManatManavutiveth, President (Co)of True Corporation PLC., stated that True Group would like to thank the State Railway of Thailand that has trust and confidence in our True 5G Smart Network, and allows True Group to be a significant part of the national project of 5G Smart Station at this Krung ThepAphiwat Central Terminal Station. True 5G Network and advanced digital technology will improve smartservices and safety for everyone to experience fast, convenient, andsafe services at the station. Most importantly, this project promotes the equal and nationwide accessibility of all Thai people to access 5G services.

The 5G MEC system, a new technology standard in the architecture of the 5G network, allows us to make the best use of technology with direct, accurate, fast and highly secure data transmission processing between users and devices.

True, together with Huawei, has collaborated to bring this 5G MEC technology to operate at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station so that people can experience new technology that truly provides safety and convenience in everyday life.
